David Linane led all scorers with 23 points as the Blue Streaks rolled to a 92-75 victory over Transylvania College on Saturday night.
The junior dished eight assists and four steals in the season-opening victory. Four other Blue Streaks were in double-digits in scoring.
Doug Caputo kicked off his year with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
JCU (1-0) will play in the tournament's championship game on Sunday at 3:00 p.m., facing off against host St. Mary's College.
The Blue Streaks and Pioneers battled for control early in the game. JCU held the lead for much of the first half, with Transylvania taking a 20-19 lead with 9:11 remaining. The teams traded baskets in the final two minutes with John Carroll taking a 45-40 lead into the locker room.
Transylvania outshot the Blue Streaks in the first 20 minutes, 44 percent to 41.9 percent. The Blue and Gold were more disciplined with the ball, only turning it over seven times compared to the Pioneers' 16.

of the second half.JCU outscored the Pioneers, 47-32, in the second half. Eighteen Blue Streaks saw the floor in the win.
