Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The objective was simple, win and win again. The John Carroll University men's tennis team won both of its Saturday matches to earn a share of the OAC Regular Season title.

John Carroll topped Baldwin Wallace 6-3 before sweeping Marietta 9-0. Both matches took place at the Paramount Tennis Center in Medina, Ohio.

The OAC Regular Season title marked the first OAC title for the program since 2006. John Carroll finished in a three-way tie for the crown with Capital and Otterbein.

John Carroll will serve as the No. 1 seed for next week's OAC Tournament. The three teams finished 1-1 against each other during the regular season.  John Carroll won the most points in matches (10) amongst tied teams to win the tiebreaker.

In its BW match, John Carroll's Nos. 3-6 singles players were vital in the win as the Blue Streaks would drop matches at Nos. 1 and 2.

Alex Guthrie posted a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 3. Scott Adsit (6-4, 6-2) and Tyler Cole (6-3, 6-1) would win in two sets at Nos. 5 and 6. Nick Siciliano rallied back at No. 4. The sophomore dropped the first set 4-6 before winning the next two 6-3, 6-1.

Earlier in the match John Carroll won at both Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.

The big matchup to watch was the match between Jad Abdul-Aal and Peter Harris in the No. 1 position. Harris would take the match 7-5, 6-3. Abdul-Aal, a sophomore, and Harris, a junior, have now split their two all-time singles meetings. The losses by each respective individual marks the lone OAC singles setback for either player.

John Carroll was in cruise control against Marietta.

Adsit and O'Brien teamed up at No. 2 doubles to post an 8-0 win. Siciliano and Guthrie matched that score at No. 3.

Other highlights from the Marietta match included Kyle Mollison's 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.

John Carroll's record stands at 8-11, 7-1 OAC.

Marietta heads right back up to John Carroll as the two teams will square off in the OAC Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 28. More details will be announced on www.jcusports.com when they become available.
