Box Score 2 John Carroll softball will soon make the trip home to Cleveland after ten hard fought games. The Blue Streaks went 5-5 in Clermont, Fla., battling to five splits.
On the trip's final day, JCU dropped a 2-1 contest to Rose-Hulman before putting on an offensive display in a 14-7 win over University of Northwestern.
GAME ONE
Offense was at a premium, and it was Rose-Hulman that scored last, defeating JCU, 2-1, at Legends Way.
Jessica Cook falls to 2-2 on the season, as she tossed 6 2/3 innings of work.
John Carroll trailed 1-0 in the fifth inning until Kristen Ponsart singled to center field, scoring
Hannah Mizener.
The Blue Streaks would fall after RHIT fired a single down the left field line. Mizener singled to center and stole second with one out, but was stranded to end the game.
GAME TWO
JCU ended the week on a positive note, crushing UNW, 14-7, in the night game.
Quinn Sobieszczanski crushed her first career home run in the second inning, putting an exclamation point on a three-run inning that set the stage for more.
The Blue Streaks scored four runs in both the third and sixth innings, piling on UNW.
Sacrifice flies and a
Taylor Tercek RBI single were the highlights of the third inning, while
Lindsay McKnight and
Nicole Geringer each came up huge with two-run singles in the sixth.
On the mound,
Brianna Lach earned the win, giving up seven runs but forcing 13 ground ball outs.
JCU is back in Cleveland this weekend, before traveling to Hiram at the end of the month for a Mar. 24 doubleheader.
