Mid-week travels seem to favor the hosts in tight duals this season.
 
The JCU wrestling team competed in their final Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet of the season on Tuesday evening, falling to the Muskingum Fighting Muskies, 24-22, in New Concord, Ohio.
 
Danny Novak's quick pin fall at 157 pounds, following Austin Victor's win by decision at 149 pounds, shed light on a potentially promising future in the last dual competition of the season for the Blue Streaks.

The Blue Streaks finish the 2016-17 regular season with an overall record of 7-9, and a 1-5 mark in the OAC. With the win, Muskingum finished 4-9 overall, going 1-5 in conference competition.
 
Muskingum stared the evening up 18-0, following two wins by forfeit and a win by fall.
 
Victor (149) got the first win of the evening for JCU, claiming a 5-2 decision to give the Blue Streaks their first team points.
 
Novak (157) topped that by gaining a win by fall early in the second period to draw within nine team points of Muskingum through five weights wrestled.
 
Freshman Matt Ferraro bounced the team back at 174 pounds, gaining a win by decision, 24-11. This was Ferraro's first career win over a conference opponent.
 
Sophomore Mason Litz finished his regular season with a 3-3 mark against conference opponents, going the distance and winning 10-8 in the first overtime period at 197 pounds.
 
Russ Porter gained a win by forfeit at the 285-pound division, but it was not enough as JCU lost by just two team points.
 
Up next, the Blue Streaks will compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional held in York, Penn. at York College on Saturday and Sunday, February 25-26, 2017.
