Box Score After allowing an early goal, the Blue Streaks responded with a commanding offensive attack and stout defensive performance, leaving Florida victorious.
 
The John Carroll University women's lacrosse team (3-2) topped Methodist University (4-4) on Thursday evening, 19-11, from Englewood, Fla.
 
Sophomore Brooke McQuinn had a career performance, scoring a school-record nine goals in the match. The previous record was held by teammate Gina Vilsack.
 
Methodist scored their first goal within the first 13 seconds of the opening draw, only to have the Blue Streaks answer by scoring seven unanswered goals to help propel JCU to their third win of the season.
 
Methodist was led by Emily Brennan, who scored a team-high three goals. McQuinn ripped off three goals within the first ten minutes of play to support JCU's early charge.
 
Methodist answered, but freshman Colleen Grombala netted two goals in three minutes to keep the Blue Streaks on track.
 
JCU closed out the half on a 4-1 run, with support from Grombala, McQuinn and juniors Grace Curatolo and Mary Jo Murino, taking a 10-3 lead into the intermission.
 
The second half commenced with McQuinn netting her fifth goal of the evening 29 seconds into the action. The Monarchs responded by scoring four goals to JCU's two, but McQuinn scored her sixth and seventh goals of the day kept the Blue Streaks ahead.
 
Sophomore Julie Hutchison found the back of the net for the first time this season, scoring off of a free position with 12:25 remaining. McQuinn then netted three more goals down the stretch, finishing with nine.
 
Up next, the Blue Streaks will return to the friendly confines of Don Shula Stadium to take on Oberlin College next Wednesday, March 15. Opening draw is set for 6:00 p.m. in University Heights.
