Six Blue Streaks Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors For Outdoor Track & Field

A total of six Blue Streaks earned All-region accolades for their work during the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the honorees for the eight different regions (Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West). The top-five individuals in each event from each region – as well the region's top-three relay teams – earned All-Region distinction.

A total of 935 men and 945 women nabbed All-Region honors for their efforts during an incredible outdoor track & field season that was highly competitive and entertaining.

The six from John Carroll are Will Cameron (800 Meters), Nick Colby(Discus), Austin McIlvaine (4×100 Relay), Cole Weirich (4×100 Relay), Jonathan Radney (4×100 Relay) and Hayden Snow (4×100 Relay and Long Jump).

All six of John Carroll's all-region athletes competed at the NCAA Division III Championships in late May.

Cameron finished 18th in the 800 meter run in the national final with a time of 1:52.53. Cameron also earned All-OAC honors with a runner-up finish in the 800 meter in the OAC Championships.

Colby finished 15th in the the nation in the discus throw. The sophomore all-conference performer was JCU's first NCAA discus qualifier since Chad Stein in 2001.

The 4 x 100 relay of Weirich, McIlvaine, Radney and Snow recorded a time of 41.51, missing the finals by 0.21 seconds, to finish 12th in the nation. The same quartet earned all-league honors as the conference runner-up, and set the school record (41.31) at the 2017 Great Lakes Qualifying Meet.

Snow was John Carroll's lone male All-American, earning a seventh-place finish in the national long jump finals. He is John Carroll's first track & field and the first long jump All-American since Mike Minjock in 2013. Snow was also all-region during the indoor season in the long jump.
