Box Score John Carroll women's soccer fell victim to a second-half scoring outburst from Capital, dropping Saturday night's match by a final score of 4-1.
Â
Following an extended lightning delay, John Carroll struck first, as
Brittany Dufalla notched a goal from
Bailey Fischer in the 23rd minute. Fischer notched her second assist of the season in her final Homecoming game at JCU. The dish to Dufalla propelled Fischer into a tie for second place on the all-time points list, matching Jill Comerford (1998-2001) at 85.
Â
Capital outshot JCU, 25-8, including a 10-2 lead in shots on goal. The Crusaders also had an 11-1 advantage on corners.
Â
Dufalla received a pass from Fischer on the left side of the box and beat the keeper, depositing the ball in the right side of the net. Olivia Rotolo had a chance to level the score in the 49th minute, but sophomore defender
Hannah Brinning threw herself at the ball, knocking it out for a corner.
Â
Morgan Eakin brought the game even in the 64th minute, heading a corner kick from Bridget Mallin into the back of the net. Eighty-eight seconds later, Casey King buried a pass from Kailey Stanisovska, giving Capital a quick 2-1 lead.
Â
Another pair of Capital goals came within 102 seconds of each other. Stanisovska scored in the 75th minute, unassisted. Carlee Murry re-entered the game, and quickly scored in the 76th minute.
