The Blue Streaks will be chasing the Big Red this season

CLEVELAND – The gauntlet has been thrown down for the season ahead.

A season ago, John Carroll Women's Soccer reigned supreme as North Coast Athletic Conference Champions, winning the regular season crown and then the tournament title.

On Wednesday, the NCAC released its annual preseason coaches' poll, with a shift at the top. Denison stands atop the poll with 59 points and 4 first-place votes, one spot above JCU.

The Blue Streaks sit second with 54 points and 4 first-place votes after beating Denison in the tournament title match.

The Big Red return plenty of talent, including the NCAC Midfielder of the Year and four All-NCAC selections. Just one of JCU's all-conference picks, NCAC Newcomer of the Year Brooke Berkowitz, returns this season.

DePauw and Kenyon round out the top half of the preseason standings. The Owls bested the Streaks in the regular season before JCU got revenge in the NCAC Semifinal.

The Blue Streaks kick off the campaign at Case Western Reserve on Tuesday, September 1. JCU starts league play on Saturday, October 3 at home vs. Wittenberg.
