Six talented Blue Streaks garnered honors from the College Sports Communicators

Following a thrilling 2025 season the NCAC Champion John Carroll Women's Soccer team has been honored by the College Sports Communicators.

The Academic All-District program seeks to honor student-athletes who excel in their chosen sport while also succeeding in the classroom. A high athletic standard must be met as well as a maintained 3.50 GPA.

Six student athletes have received All-District recognition: Alli Malinky, Madeline Martin, Julia Niehaus, Emily Patrzyk, Kathryn Shaffer, and Abby Walker.

After four years of competing in almost every single game, Alli Malinky has proven herself to be a resilient athlete. The midfielder has consistently seen some of the highest total minutes on the team each season she has played, ending this year with 1,635 with her cleats on the pitch for the full 90 in the final six games. Starting in every game, she recorded 5 shots on goal and 1 assist. A seasoned student-athlete, she has been awarded College Sports Communicators Academic All-District twice in the past. Malinky was named to the 2025 All-NCAC First Team. The Canfield native is an Exercise Science major.

The team's starting goalkeeper, Madeline Martin has been a firm wall in between the goal posts throughout the season. Starting in almost every match, she remained gloved up for 1,569 total minutes. Ending her season with 79 saves to a sparse 12 goals against, her saves average rounded out to a staggering 86% success rate. Out of 20 games, the keeper notched nine shutouts, finishing as the program's career record holder for blank sheets. A previous College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorary, Martin was also named to the 2025 All-NCAC Second Team. The junior, set to graduate early, is a Biology major.

A strong component of the defensive line, Julia Niehaus has more than earned recognition. Starting in 16 games and playing 18, she caps off the season with 1,017 minutes spent on the field. She recorded 1 assist on the season. Proving herself to be a strong component to the defense, Niehaus sets herself up for what looks to be an incredible senior season. The Magnificat grad is an Exercise Science major.

Awarded the title of NCAC's Offensive Player of the Year for Women's Soccer, Emily Patrzyk has concluded a first-class college career with a spectacular season. She began her career by breaking the record for most goals scored by a freshman with 13 in the 2022 season and earning a plethora of honors and recognition from the OAC. Starting in all 20 games, the forward played a collective 1,485 minutes. She put 23 shots on goal, recording 8 goals and 4 assists. Awarded All-NCAC First Team honors, Patrzyk was one of the top scorers in the conference. The Twinsburg native is set to finish her Accounting degree.

No stranger to the College Sports Communicators honors, Kathryn Shaffer spent the most time on the field than any other Blue Streak this season. She started all 20 games and finished with a total of 1,675 minutes. A firm part of the defense wall, Shaffer continually finds a way to assist the entire field, ending the season with 1 goal and 2 assists. It comes as no surprise that Shaffer was also named to the 2025 All-NCAC First Team. The Cincinnati native is a star Marketing major.

A consistent piece to the midfield formation, Abby Walker has cemented herself as a key player for the Blue Streaks. The defending midfielder started in all 20 games this season, remaining on the pitch for the full 90 minutes for the final four matches. Persistent and steady, her ability to move the ball has been crucial during games. Walker ends her season with 1 goal and 1 assist. The Edinboro, Pennsylvania native is a Finance major.
