Emily Patrzyk and Kathryn Shaffer Star on United Soccer Coaches' All-Region Team

The senior Streaks secured Second Team honors

The John Carroll Women's Soccer team can boast of two outstanding athletes who receive more recognition for their performances this season. 

Both Emily Patrzyk and Kathryn Shaffer were named to the United Soccer Coaches' NCAA All-Region VII Second Team.

Captain Emily Patrzyk started in all 20 games for the Blue Streaks. In those 20 starts, Patrzyk was able to score 8 goals and dish out 4 assists. Her most notable performance came against Ohio Wesleyan, in which she scored both of the team's goals - leading to a 2-0 victory for John Carroll. The Twinsburg native won the NCAC's Offensive Player of the Year award. 

Defender Kathryn Shaffer was the definition of reliable this season for the Streaks. In 20 starts, she was able to net one goal and assist two more. Her ability to anchor the Blue Streaks as a hard-working leader proved to be invaluable for John Carroll this season. Shaffer displayed an impressive motor, logging 90 minutes in 16 of the 20 games John Carroll played this year. The Cincinnati native won All-NCAC First Team recognition. 

Both of these women were crucial in John Carroll's successful season. Patrzyk and Shaffer were major parts of the Blue Streaks' North Coast Athletic Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Additionally, both won College Sports Communicators Academic All-District awards.
