Title Defense For JCU Women's Tennis Begins With Blanking Of Crusaders

Box Score The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion John Carroll women's tennis team started off its league schedule Saturday with a decisive 9-0 road win over Capital University Saturday.

The Blue Streaks have now won three out of their last four matches and are finding their stride as they race into the heart of the OAC Season. The Blue Streaks completed their dominating effort without surrendering a single set.

Molly Traverso and Allyssa Krupp were able to complete their victories in singles without dropping a single game. Both Traverso and Krupp secured the 6-0, 6-0 victories on the #4 and #5 courts respectively.

In #1 singles junior Lauren O'Mally continued her dominance securing a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Maidsyn Rini followed in suit on the #2 singles court locking up a 6-3, 6-0 victory.

Rounding out the singles victories for the Blue and Gold were seniors Jennifer Stroyne 6-2, 6-2 and Nicolette Bourlas 6-2, 6-1.

The day began well in doubles as the Blue Streaks only dropped three games in total between all three doubles matches. The combo of Krupp and Syke Harwood completed their #3 doubles victory unscathed by winning 8-0. The dynamic duo of O'Mally and Rini came away with an 8-2 victory in #1 doubles. The sister duo of Nicolette Bourlas and Natalie Bourlas were also near perfect winning the #2 match 8-1.

In all, the Blue Streaks won 96 out of the 110 games to secure the dominate OAC Victory.

With the win, JCU moves to 7-4 and 1-0 in the OAC, while Capital falls to 1-7 and 0-1 in the OAC.

Next up for John Carroll, the Blue Streaks will travel to Berea, Ohio to take on crosstown rival Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, April 4 th .
