Women's Tennis Splits Two Matches On The First Saturday Of April

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 John Carroll did its own version of a barnstorming tour, criss-crossing the state of Ohio to play a pair of matches on the first Saturday of April.

JCU lost to Denison University by an 8-1 score in a battle of regionally ranked teams to start the day in Granville, Ohio. Host Denison is ranked #7 and John Carroll #12 in the latest ITA/Oracle Division III rankings.

Later in the afternoon, the Blue Streaks traveled to New Concord, Ohio, where they dominated conference foe Muskingum, 9-0. It was John Carroll's 20th consecutive victory in regular season play.

Against the Big Red, the lone winner was Lauren O'Malley, who won her #1 singles match by a 6-2 6-1 score over Lauren Hawley. O'Malley has now won 66 singles matches, two shy of Lauren Castagnero's school record of 68 set from 2002-2006.

The Denison match was in sharp contrast to the conference dual vs. Muskingum. JCU improved to 2-0 in league play with a shutout as the Blue Streaks did not lose a single game in either singles or doubles play. The Muskies forfeited #5 and #6 singles as well as #3 doubles. 

Nicolette and Natalie Bourlas, Allyssa Krupp and Skye Harwood all won twice against Muskingum.

JCU is now 8-5 in dual matches this season.
