Box Score On the heels of a thrilling victory over Heidelberg Tuesday night at home, the Blue Streaks kept the momentum going on the road Saturday at Wilmington by delivering a regular season-ending sweep of the host Quakers.
The Blue Streaks won by scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-16.
JCU finished the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season schedule with two victories for the first time since 1996.
By winning its final two matches, JCU finished tied for seventh in the final OAC regular season standings with a record of 3-6, and will be the #8 seed in the OAC Tournament which begins next week. The Blue Streaks will draw top seed and regular season champion Ohio Northern on Tuesday, November 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Against Wilmington, John Carroll proved efficient throughout the afternoon, especially later as the match progressed. After hitting .162 in the opening frame, the Blue and Gold had a .333 mark in set two and a .265 mark in set three.
Everyone on the roster got into the act, led by
Cassi Calamunci with eight kills and
Carleen Ellerbruch with seven.
Anna Coughlin had 16 digs and
Ally Bartolone had 23 assists. Ellerbruch also had three blocks to lead the Blue Streaks in that category.
John Carroll's record stands at 19-10 entering the postseason.
