The John Carroll women's basketball team was recognized for their historic 2018-2019 season with five well-earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference awards.

In her sixth season as head coach, Kelly Morrone was named OAC Coach of the Year for the second time in her career. This season was a season of firsts for Morrone as her team won the OAC regular season championship outright for the first time, clinched the #1 seed for the OAC Tournament for the first time, and captured the OAC Tournament crown for the first time in program history.

Morrone has led the Blue Streaks to a 22-6 overall record and won the OAC regular season with a 15-3 conference record. Morrone's team returns to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in six seasons.

Sophomore Nicole Heffington earned the title of the Helen Ludwig OAC Player of the Year for her efforts this season. Coming off her impressive rookie campaign that named her OAC Freshman of the Year, Heffington led the Blue Streaks this season in scoring and rebounds, averaging 14.9 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. Heffington, who also earned first team All-OAC status for the second consecutive season, has accumulated 839 career points in her first two seasons for John Carroll.  Heffington is the third player in program history to receive OAC player of the Year honors, following Missy Spahar in 2014 and Katlyn Spahar in 2015.

Freshman Olivia Nagy was named the inaugural OAC Defensive Player of the Year. Nagy made her presence known in the OAC recording 2.8 blocks per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. Nagy holds the school single-game record for blocks, with her 11 block performance against Capital this season (01/12/19).

In addition to Heffington, two other Blue Streaks were accorded All-OAC accolades. Senior captain Kahrin Spear earned herself a spot on the All-OAC second team. In earning all-league status for the first time in her career, Spear started and played in 23 games for the Blue Streaks this season, leading the team and the OAC with 4.2 assists per game. Spear was also named OAC Player of the Week this season for the first time in her career for her career-high 23 point performance against Otterbein (02/13/2019).

Junior Dani Carlson rounds out the awards for John Carroll, earning recognition as an All-OAC Honorable Mention. Carlson, who played in all 28 games, was John Carroll's best offensive weapon from 3-point range, shooting 40.5% on the season (6th in the OAC).  In her two seasons playing for John Carroll, Carlson has made 63 three-point field goals.

The Blue Streaks continue their season in the NCAA Tournament against Middlebury College this Friday, March 1, at 5:00 pm at DeSales University in Center Valley, PA.
