Ohio Athletic Conference play is in session and the John Carroll tennis team finished their first test in convincing fashion, defeating the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum 9-0.

The Blue and Gold caught fire with a hot start. In the doubles, the senior duo of Madisyn Rini and Lauren O'Malley won their two games 8-0 and 8-0, claiming the set. Sophomore Skye Hardwood and freshman Megan Reese followed the the upperclassmen lead, winning both of their games 8-0 as well.

CU received string contribution from the top of their roster to tge bottom, as Freshman Emily Day and Torie Price both won their games without allowing any points in a set. O'Malley and Rini rounded out a sweep in the singles with their two commanding victories.

The Blue Streaks won all but one game, with the lone loss game from Reese. Despite a small setback, she rebounded with a dominating to win in the set.

An early win against Muskingum would be a foreshadow to a later one against another Ohio opponent.

Game Two (vs. Ohio Wesleyan)

A battle it was with the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan but the Blue Streaks lightning struck, claiming victory in a competitive Saturday afternoon match. The Blue and Gold would zip by the Bishops, with their second 9-0 win of the afternoon.

JCU took a 3-0 claim in the doubles, as the three dynamic duos of the Blue and Gold shined bright. O'Malley and Rini won their set by a decisive 8-1 score against a pair of Bishops. Additionally, senior Carlye Campagna and sophomore Alyssa Krupp won their set 8-2.

Not all wins this afternoon would come easy. The pair of Reese and Hardwood had a hard fought match against Ohio Wesleyan's Meryl Reams and Ruthie Silberman. In the end, Reese and Hardwood pulled away with an 8-4 victory.

In the singles, O'Malley, Reese, Krupp, Campagna, and Hardwood would all win their matches by at least 3 points in each game. Madi Rini won both her games by 2 points and 1 point each, respectively. Rini would ultimately win the set after a long-lasting fight with OWU's Sara Welsh.

JCU improves to 6-3 on the season following their two wins. They are currently riding a four game win streak into play tomorrow, as they will travel down to Marietta, Ohio, for a competition against the Pioneers.
