Win Over Quakers Secures Second Undefeated Dual Meet Season In Program History For JCU Men's Swimming & Diving

On the surface, John Carroll's 205-57 win over Wilmington Saturday afternoon appears to be another strong effort by the Blue Streaks

But there was some historical significance to this victory.

The win over the Quakers secured the first undefeated dual meet season for JCU since the 2003-04 campaign and just the second in program history.

Results

To begin the meet, John Carroll pulled a 1-2-3 punch in the 200 meter medley. They finished with times of 1:51.04 (A team), 1:53.67 (C team), and 1.55.14 (B team). The "A" quartet consisted of Chris Soules, Jonah Venos, Forrest Campbell and Matt Ramsey.

Matthew Pietsch won the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 9:45.68. Eric Andrews finished second, coming in at 9:45.50.

Pietsch also took first the 400 meter freestyle (4:33.42) later in the meet.

The trio of Michael Heller, Westin Fishel, and Patrick Folan took first second and third place, respectively, in the 200 meter freestyle. Their times were 2:02.08, 2:06.01, and 2:06.52.

In the 50 meter backstroke, Liam McDonnell took first with a time of 27.11. Jackson Cooper took second with a time of 27.83 and Forrest Campbell followed closely in third (28.00).

Venos took first in the 50 meter breaststroke with a time of 30.36.

Gavin Claxton and Billy Rhodes took first and second place in the 100 meter butterfly, coming in at 1:04.06 and 1:07.68.

In the 50 meter freestyle, Jake Farr took first with a time of 24.95.

Fishel captured first in the 100 meter freestyle, coming in at 56.23 and winning by almost six seconds. Michael O'Meara and Derek Rymers completed the sweep of the podium.

In the men's next event, Forrest Campbell won the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 59.05. Aidan O'Neill and Soules helped make it a 1-2-3 sweep.

Adam Lenz took first in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:08.22.

In the 50 meter butterfly, McDonnell took first with a time of 25.74. Cooper and Forrest Campbell followed to the wall in second and third.

To finish the meet, JCU 'A team' consisting of Lenz, Heller, McDonnell, and Ramsey took first place with a time of 1:37.77.
