UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Two ticks were added to the win column this past week for John Carroll University Women's Soccer, and one player had a lot to do with it.

And that player has been rewarded with Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.

If you're a John Carroll fan, you know that player is Danielle DelGiudice. The veteran goalkeeper has been phenomenal for the Blue Streaks this season.

DelGiudice anchored the Blue Streaks in net this week, proving two clean sheets. Thanks in part to her efforts, John Carroll advanced to 4-1 on the young season with a 4-0 victory over Hiram and a 1-0 overtime triumph over Allegheny.

On Wednesday, DelGiudice turned away 7 shots in 77:18, combining with Tierney Hemphill to keep the Terriers off the scoreboard. The Avon Lake native matched the feat again on Saturday. DelGiudice provided 9 saves in 107:40 of action, locking down the net with ferocity in an intense overtime affair. Thanks to her efforts, the Blue Streaks' offense had time to work for a goal in double overtime.

On the season, DelGiudice has allowed just 4 goals in 5 games. She has 28 saves, an .875 save percentage, and a 0.81 goals against average.

The star netminder and the Blue Streaks are back in action on Wednesday, heading to Kenyon College for a non-conference showdown.
