Personal Bests & Collegiate Debuts Help Blue Streaks Propel in Season Openers

Mia Scott ( #5) Earned a PR in the 60m Dash this Weekend
The women's indoor track & field team made their debut this weekend and posted top finishes and marks on both days. On Friday, the team traveled to the YSU Icebreaker hosted by Youngstown State University at the Watson and Tressel Training Site. The team was back to competing on Saturday at the CWRU Holiday Classic hosted by Case Western Reserve University. 

Friday, December 1

Final Results

At the YSU Icebreaker, Mia Scott posted a PR of 8.09 seconds in the 60m dash to place herself in the top 20. In the 200m race, Kaleigh McNamara made her season debut posting a time of 27.63 seconds, followed by Elizabeth Clemente, who posted a time of 29.87 seconds. This was Clemente's first race since February 2021 due to injury. 

In the field events, Tori Miller earned a top eight finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.08m, followed by newcomer Sara Gennuso, who earned a mark of 10.70m placing 12th overall. 

Saturday, December 2

Final Results

The Blue Streaks competed on Saturday at the CWRU Holiday Classic for the second day of competition. In the 60m dash, Genevieve Arnold earned a second place finish with a time of 8.06 seconds. Mia Scott (8.21 seconds) and Rosie Murray (8.41 seconds) were next for the Blue Streaks as they placed in the finals as well. 

In the triple jump, Olivia Stekfa earned a sixth place finish with a mark of 9.72m. Sarah Hart won the shot put with a finals mark of 11.24m and Cara Jewett placed seventh in the weight throw, earning a mark of 13.11m. 

JCU Women's Indoor Track & Field will be back on Saturday, January 20th as they travel to Geneva, Ohio for the 2023 Spire Midwest Open.
