Women's Track & Field Finish In Second at OAC Indoor Championships

Claire Eberhardt won the 1000m for the Blue Streaks, the lone event the team came away victorious in on the final day of the OAC Indoor Championships.
BEREA, Ohio – The John Carroll women's track & field team ended the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at Baldwin Wallace with a second place standing with 154.5 points.  Mount Union (221.5) won the title, and Ohio Northern placed third (112).

JCU has eight All-OAC performances on the day, and Claire Eberhardt was the lone champion in an event as she won the 1000m in a time of 3:02.68.

Abby Schroff earned All-OAC honors with a second place finish (3:03.67), while Sydney Wingler came in fourth (3:07.11).

JCU's largest scoring contingents came in the triple jump and the 3000m, where they had four athletes come away with team points.

Genevieve Arnold led the way in the triple jump by finishing in second (10.96m).  Tori Miller came right behind Eberhardt in third (10.53) to also earn All-OAC honors.  Olivia Stefka (10.28m) and Sarah Saad (10.01m) came in seventh and eighth, while Massey Andrykovitch (9.89m) rounded out the top 10.

Erica Esper was second in the 3000m (10:12.30), while Morgan Edwards (10:36.75), Amanda Keim (10:37.03), and Jen Massucci (10:40.63) finished 5-6-7.

Arnold finished out her strong day by placing fourth in the 55m hurdles (8.71), eighth in the 55m (7.55) and was also on the third place 4x400 team of herself, Kaleigh McNamara, Rosie Murray, and Eberhardt that had an All-OAC showing.

Schroff had her first All-OAC performance of the day in the mile by finishing in third (5:13.09).  Keim (5:16.24) and Sarah Weldon (5:24.41) ended in fifth and seventh.

Taylor Anthony's second in the 55m (7.24) capped off the team's All-OAC honorees.  The senior also came in sixth during the 200m (26.68).

Three Blue Streaks finished in the top 10 in the 800m, led by Ellie Kitsmiller (fourth, 2:21.02).  Morgan Dobos (sixth, 2:24.33) and Katy Fellenstein (ninth, 2:26.11) rounded out the others.

The all-underclassmen 4x200 relay team of three freshmen (Rosie Murray, Ella Zambruno, and Kaleigh McNamara) and sophomore Mia Scott came in fourth with a time of 1:49.79.

In other field events, Emmy Bryan tied for seventh in the high jump (1.44) while Kelsey Dunn and Brooklyn Beckford placed in the top half of the shot put with 11th and 15th place, respectfully.

A handful of Blue Streaks will compete at Ohio Northern's Polar Bear Final Qualifier on March 3-4, while some will be preparing for the NCAA Indoor Championships held in Birmingham, Alabama from March 10-11.
