Women's Track & Field Kicks Off Outdoor Season with Third Place at Muskingum

Jen Massucci topped the field in the 3000m Steeplechase. 
NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Outdoor track & field season got underway this weekend for John Carroll Women's Track & Field. 

The Blue Streaks opened the outdoor campaign at Muskingum's Amy Adams Invitational at Johnson Family Track in New Concord.

The Blue Streaks finished in third place as a team.

The Blue & Gold dominated the 800m with a large contingent competing. Abby Schroff took the cake, winning by a nose with a time of 2:26.94, beating Ellie Kitsmiller in a photo finish (2:26.95). Claire Eberhardt and Morgan Edwards also finished very closely together in third and fourth with respective times of 2:28.03 and 2:28.28. Amanda Keim and Sarah Weldon also finished within a second of each other, with respective marks of 2:32.27 and 2:32.84. 

Rosie Murray made a triumphant outdoor debut, as the freshman was crowned the champ in the 400m hurdles. The Chardon native rolled for a time of 1:07.82 for first. 

Turning to the distance side of things, Jen Massucci topped the field in the 3000m Steeplechase. The senior won the day with a time of 11:58.20 in the event. 

In the 5000m, Sydney Jenko made her return. The senior secured a time of 19:32.45 for seventh place. Audrey Sadd was JCU's other top-15 finisher in the event with a mark of 20:55.99. 

Taking a look at the field events, a quartet of Blue Streaks placed in the Hammer Throw. Kelsey Dunn led the pack with a fourth-place finish of 42.57m. Sarah Hart followed in ninth at 38.56m, while Cara Jewett also finished top-15 in 36.66m. 

Brooklyn Beckford made a strong outdoor debut in the shot put. The first-year Blue Streak notched a throw of 11.00m, earning her sixth. 

Caroline Beery opened up the spring with a jump of 3.37m in the pole vault, clipping fourth place. Meredith Glavach tabbed sixth place (3.07m) and Leah Fritsch (2.92m) tied for seventh.
