Women's Lacrosse Makes IWLCA Academic Honor Roll Status, 4 Players Make Academic Squad

The Blue Streaks performed well in the classroom this season. 
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – John Carroll Women's Lacrosse has earned several honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

As a team, the Blue Streaks staked out a spot on the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll and four Blue Streaks garnered recognition on the IWLCA Academic Squad: Kendall Gessner, Olivia Hanulak, Maddie Pietrek, and Hannah Rust

The Blue Streaks achieved well in the classroom, making the 3.2 GPA cut for the Academic Honor Roll. During the 2022 campaign, JCU Women's Lacrosse finished with an 8-8 record after falling in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinal.

Kendall Gessner topped the team in scoring this season, registering a team-high 57 points on 36 goals and 21 assists. The Gibsonia, PA native added 27 groundballs on the year, too. The senior logged a 3.56 GPA as an Economics major. 

Olivia Hanulak aided the JCU effort all over the field. The junior accumulated 9 goals and 19 assists for a total output of 28 points. She added 22 draw controls, 19 groundballs, and 14 caused turnovers on the year. The Pine-Richland grad tabbed a 3.50 GPA as a Business major.

Madelyn Pietrek formed part of a strong wall on defense for the Blue Streaks. The Wake Forest, NC native started all 16 games, tabbing 13 groundballs on the season. The junior achieved a 3.80 GPA as a Math major. 

Hannah Rust also played a critical role on defense for the Blue & Gold. The Gibsonia, PA native started for all 16 games, logging 21 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers. The senior secured a 3.63 GPA as an Exercise Science major.
