Domitrovich, Correia Highlight The Weekend As Blue Streaks Excelled Into Another Meet Weekend

The Blue Streaks were back at it for the second weekend in a row and split up to compete in three different meets including the Penn State National Open, the Doug Raymond National Qualifier at Kent State, and the Jim Wuske Invitational at Mount Union.

The men, coming off a successful performance in the Spire Midwest open a week ago once again made noise this weekend, and broke records while doing so. 

Caleb Correia and Ethan Domitrovich dominated the weekend headlines at Penn State, as each celebrated a school record and PR in their respective events. Correia, the senior out of Toledo finished the 600m with a historic time of 1:21.08, a new school record, breaking sophomore Ian Paul's previous record from just a weekend ago. Correia's senior counterpart Ethan Domitrovich blazed to a school record in the 1000m, finishing with a time of 2:26.99. Domitrovich's historic run came immediately following the mile run, making his feat even more impressive. 

Basheer Alramahi, the sophomore All-American also amazed at Penn State, finishing in second place in the 400m, with a time of 48.04 seconds. Grad student and fellow All-American Garrett Clark stood out at Penn State, earning a first place finish in the fourth heat of the 400m, with a time of 48.25 seconds.

The men also saw impressive performances at Kent State in the Doug Raymond National Qualifier. Junior distance runner Tommy Naiman achieved a second place finish in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 14:48.53, a personal record. Ian Paul and Mike Hvizdos once again shined in the 800m with first and second place finishes. Ian Paul entered Saturday coming fresh off of a school record performance in the 600 meter last weekend, and kept up the momentum earning a new personal record. Paul, the sophomore standout, finished in first place in the 800m, with a time of 1:55.34, his career best. Mike Hvizdos finished milliseconds behind his teammate Ian Paul, collecting a second place finish with a time of 1:55.63. In the 3000 meter run, junior Dominic Delmoro won the race with a time of 8:31.00, continuing to propel the Blue Streaks. Freshman Nate Julien continued his success posting a time of 8:39.44 in his first ever 3000 meter run to finish third place. 

At the Jim Wuske Invitational at Mount Union, Dustin Horner ran 22.95 seconds in the 200 meter dash, earning sixth. The Blue Streaks earned a 1-2-3 finish in the 1000 meter run highlighted by Jack Curtis winning the race with a time of 2:37.20 to make his indoor debut. 

The men will be in action again this upcoming weekend as they look to carry their momentum into the Dan Kinsey Invite in Oberlin, and the Ashland Alumni Open in Ashland.
