The Blue Streaks made the most out of their weekend as personal bests and even several school records were broken in various events.

This past Friday, the Blue Streaks went across town to Berea, where they posted many personal bests. The day got started with the men's weight throw as Noah Schroeder won the event with a mark of 15.12 meters, followed by Erich Frombach (13.07 meters) and Alec Gorman (12.53 meters) who earned personal bests in their throws. In the long jump, Jimmy Kartsonas took the win with a mark of 6.64 meters to continue his push on the field event side. Moving towards the track events, Cam Klauke posted a big personal best in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.49 seconds. Mick Doyle won the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:07.03, posting a personal best as well. Freshman Liam Noss, in his first time in the event, posted a time of 2:35.20 in the 1000 meter run to place second in his heat.

At the GVSU Big Meet, the personal bests would continue as junior Tommy Naiman would win the 3000 meter race with a time of 8:19.78. Sophomore Isaac Bourne would run 14:56.99 to earn a top 10 finish in his heat.

On Saturday, the team traveled to Spire Institute for the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games, where a small contingent of Blue Streaks competed at the meet. In the mile race, junior Jack Root would run 4:23.46 to win his heat and record a personal best. Jacob Gerhardt also would PR in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:01.69 at the meet.

Moving on to the Boston University Valentine Invite, the Blue Streaks represented well, taking down school records and placing high national marks in their events. In the 800 meter run, senior Caleb Correia would better his school record with a time of 1:51.39. This puts him 7th in Division III currently. Next would be the distance medley relay, who posted their second best all time finish with a 9:48.97. This was the fastest DMR since 2022 when they broke the national record. The relay consisted of Ian Paul, Basheer Alramahi, Caleb Correia, and Ethan Domitrovich. Their time currently sits at third in Division III. Alramahi would continue his success on the track as he broke his own school record in the open 400 meter dash with a time of 47.18 seconds, which puts him second in the country. Last, but not least the men's 4 x 400 meter relay of Tyler Gast, Garrett Clark, Caleb Correia, and Basheer Alramahi would run the number one time in Division III running 3:10.93 to end the weekend on a high note. The men broke the school record, while also being the second team to run under 3:11. Also important to note that this relay is number two all time in NCAA Division III history.

Coach Daniel Tutskey praised his athletes for the way they handled the meet and battled throughout the weekend. "I thought we ran well," mentioned Tutskey. "It was finally a race that we front ran and it was a great opportunity to compete with high-level competition. It was a chance to put Carroll more on the map than we did in the past. Hand off after hand off all of the guys executed and truthfully, we got more in the tank." Coach Tutskey also loved the way his athletes approached the opportunity at competing at a big meet like Boston University. "When you have 35 to 40 meets of a 200 to 400, it can be tough to prepare," says Tutskey. "They did a great job of being in the moment and when you're running on the fastest track in the world, it's super special to compete there."

The Blue Streaks definitely put the rest of the country on notice with their efforts this weekend and will look to keep the momentum rolling heading into the OAC Championships in two weeks. The team will be back in action next Friday, February 16th at the Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite, hosted by Case Western Reserve University.
