Blue Streaks Currently Sit At Second Place After Day 1 Of The OAC Championships

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - A first place finish from the Distance Medley Relay highlights day 1 of the 2024 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Muskingum University at the Bullock Health & Wellness Complex. 

The men ended the first day of the OAC Championships scoring 54 points, behind the Purple Raiders of Mount Union's  64 points. Wilmington is currently in third with 38 points. 

The day got started with the long jump as Jimmy Kartsonas would get the first few points on the board for the Blue Streaks as he would add another All-OAC accolade to his resume, placing third with a mark of 6.99 meters. 

In the 500 meter dash, sophomore Basheer Alramahi would continue to build upon his success this year as he would place second with a time of 1:04.17, adding another All-OAC accolade. Alramahi would also break the school record in the event and now has been a part of breaking three school records this indoor season. Caleb Correia (1:06.05) and Mick Doyle (1:06.70) would place 6th and 8th overall in the race to score for the team. Senior Garrett Clark would earn a second place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.64 seconds, followed by Tyler Gast who posted a sixth place finish with a time of 49.98 seconds to score major points for the Blue Streaks. 

Moving on to the distance events, juniors Dominic Delmoro and Tommy Naiman would place in the top three in the 5000 meter race. Naiman would earn a runner-up finish in the event with a time of 14:44.92, earning All-OAC honors. Delmoro wouldn't be too far behind placing third with a time of 14:46.99. Freshman Nate Julien would contribute for the men as he placed eighth overall, clocking in at 15:14.80. 

To end day 1 on a high note, the distance medley relay team of Michael Hvizdos, Brody Hanlon, Liam Noss, and Ethan Domitrovich would be OAC Champs, posting a time of 10:10.98. This is the first event the men would conquer so far at the meet. 

Day 2 of the 2024 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will continue tomorrow as the field events will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the running events starting at 2:30 pm.
