Women’s Track & Field Picks Up High Finishes And Personal Bests In Their First Meet Weekend At Both Carnegie Mellon And Oberlin College

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania and OBERLIN, Ohio - The Blue Streaks traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Oberlin, Ohio throughout the weekend for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational and the Bob Kahn Invite at Oberlin College.

A small group of the distance athletes competed at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational this past Friday evening. The day got started with the women's 3000 meter steeplechase as both Kelsey Sheridan and Grace McKoon made their collegiate debuts in the event. Sheridan would place third overall with a time of 12:19.01, while McKoon would place seventh, finishing with a time of 12:30.25. 

Moving on to the women's 1500 meter run, junior Ellie Kitsmiller would earn a personal best with a time of 4:46.26 placing third. Sophomore Alyssa Vis would run 4:57.92 in her first appearance in the 1500, placing 15th overall in the race. 

Lastly, senior Annie Higgins would earn a personal best in the women's 5000 meter run, placing seventh overall with a time of 18:17.47 to make her outdoor debut for the Blue Streaks.

A large contingent of the team traveled to the Bob Kahn Invitational at Oberlin College. 

In the women's javelin throw, sophomore Leah Fritsch would place fourth overall with a mark of 32.86 meters to make her first appearance in the event. 

Genevieve Arnold would earn a victory in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.35 meters to continue her push in the field events. 

The women's 1500 meter run was an exciting one as Tori Dunham would make her collegiate debut for the Blue Streaks placing seventh overall with a time of 5:07.09. Sophomore Emma Hvizdos wouldn't be far behind as she would pick up a personal best in the event with a time of 5:09.30, placing 11th overall. 

Genevieve Arnold would continue her winning ways as she would run 15.67 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles, while also winning the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.62 seconds. 

Senior Elizabeth Clemente would earn herself a personal best in the 400 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 1:03.10. 

In the women's 200 meter dash, junior Mia Scott would earn the victory with a time of 26.99 seconds to continue her progression. 

In the field events, Genevieve Arnold would pick up another win in the triple jump with a mark of 11.00 meters, followed by Tori Miller (10.50 meters) placing third overall and Sara Gennuso (10.38 meters) placing fourth. 

The Blue Streaks will be back competing next weekend at the Dave Labor invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
