Men’s Track & Field Takes On Another Meet Weekend Competing At Tiffin, All-Ohio, And Bucknell

TIFFIN & DELAWARE, Ohio | LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania - The Blue Streaks had an action packed weekend as they traveled to three meets on both Friday and Saturday.

Throws competed at the Tiffin Track Carnival at Heidelberg on Friday. The next day, the team made appearances at the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan, the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University, and then back to the Tiffin Track Carnival on Saturday.

The team continued their momentum setting numerous personal bests and high-achieving performances to put themselves in position to compete at bigger meets in the next couple of weeks, as well as getting ready for championship racing soon.

Friday, April 12

A small contingent of the throwers traveled to the Paradiso Athletic Complex at the Tiffin Track Carnival. In the men's hammer throw, Noah Schroeder led the way for the Blue Streaks placing seventh overall with a mark of 51.07 meters, followed by junior Matt Russo placing 13th overall with a mark of 47.79 meters. Alec Gorman would earn a personal best in the process with a throw of 39.14 meters. 

Saturday, April 13

At the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, the men's 10k squad of Dominic Delmoro, Tommy Naiman, and Ryan Champa competed amongst the very best at one of the largest meets in the country. 

Delmoro got the day started posting a time of 30:37.44, earning a personal best in the process in the unseeded race, placing second overall.

Naiman and Champa would be in the invitational race as they would make their 10k debuts. Champa would lead the way as he would place 24th overall with a time of 30:18.21, followed by Naiman placing 46th with a time of 31:42.37. 

At the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan, the throwers were back in action. Junior Matt Russo would rebound and win the discus throw with a mark of 44.58 meters. In the hammer, Noah Schroeder (50.63 meters) and Russo (46.86 meters) would earn top 4 finishes. 

Mick Doyle and Victor Ononogbo would make appearances in the 400 meter hurdles at the All-Ohio Championships as well. Doyle (56.48 seconds) would place seventh, while Ononogbo (57.20 seconds) placed eighth for the Blue Streaks. 

Most of the team competed at the Tiffin Track Carnival at Hoernemann Stadium at Heidelberg University on Saturday. 

In the men's 100 meter dash, Dustin Horner would lead the way for the Blue Streaks as he would earn a personal best of 10.89 seconds, followed by Cam Klauke running 10.97 seconds and Joe Weatherspoon Jr., who also earned a personal best with a time of 11.54 seconds. Horner is currently tied for seventh in the OAC with that time in the event. 

Sophomore Basheer Alramahi would continue his progression as he would run 21.56 seconds to earn a new personal best, which puts him #4 in the OAC in the 200 meter dash. Tim Herczog would run 22.81 seconds to put himself in the top 40. Herczog would also come back for the 400 meter as he would earn a massive personal best with a time of 50.80 seconds to place 24th overall. 

In the distance events, junior Aidan Stone would run in his first 10k this outdoor season as he would place fourth overall with a time of 31:42.90, bettering his personal best.

Senior Cormac-Peppard Kramer would lead the way in the 3000 meter steeplechase placing fourth overall with a time of 9:45.85, followed by Jacob Gerhardt (9:48.19 - 5th overall), Jack Curtis (9:56.85 - 11th overall), and James Johnson (10:03.35 - 14th overall). All placed in the top 15 and are currently ranked in the top 12 of the OAC. 

Caleb Correia would continue to impress as he would place third overall in the men's 800 meter championship race, clocking in at 1:51.56. 

The men's 1500 meter race was an exciting one as sophomore Ian Paul led the charge placing sixth overall with a time of 3:56.07, followed by freshman Liam Noss placing 13th running 3:59.20. Both earned personal bests in the process as well. 

Isaac Bourne made his presence known this weekend as he would place sixth overall in the men's 5000 meter championship race with a new personal best of 14:50.45. He is also currently sixth in the OAC with that time. 

In the jumps, freshman Jeremy Frazao would place ninth overall in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.85 meters, followed by George Wilson, who made his debut for the Blue Streaks placing 12th with a mark of 1.80 meters. 

The men's track & field team will be back competing in another meet weekend next week as they will travel to Ohio State for the Jesse Owens Classic and the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina both on Friday, April 19th. On Saturday, most of the team will be competing at the Sparky Adams Invite at Baldwin Wallace.
