Blue Streaks Run At Both The Sparky Adams Invitational And The Jesse Owens Classic At Baldwin Wallace And Ohio State

COLUMBUS & BEREA, Ohio - It was another meet weekend on tap for the Blue Streaks as they made appearances at both the Sparky Adams Invitational, hosted by Baldwin Wallace and the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University on both Friday and Saturday. 

For the women, it was another weekend full of personal bests and progress as they gear up for postseason racing in a couple of weeks as the OAC Championships get closer.

At OSU, senior Claire Eberhardt would make another appearance in the 800 meter run and record a time of 2:15.79, earning an 11th place finish overall. 

On Saturday, a large contingent of the team competed at Baldwin Wallace. To get things started, in the field events, Leah Fritsch would record a personal best of 36.65 meters in the javelin throw placing third overall. Sara Gennuso would continue her success as she would place fourth overall in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.51 meters. The women showed out in the triple jump as the trio of Genevieve Arnold (11.15 meters), Tori Miller (10.88 meters), and Sara Gennuso (10.81 meters) would place first, third, and fourth overall respectively. 

Moving on in the running events, freshman Grace McKoon would kick it off as she would run 12:26.86 in the 3000 meter steeplechase, placing second overall in the race.

In the women's 4x100 meter relay, the team of Genevieve Arnold, Mia Scott, Kaleigh McNamara, and Rosie Murray would run 48.85 seconds to place first overall for the Blue Streaks. 

Junior Mia Scott would later return for the 100 meter dash and post a new personal best of 12.42 seconds after running 12.46 seconds in the prelims and being a part of the 4 x 100 meter relay. She is currently fourth in the OAC with that time. 

A couple of personal bests would be recorded for the women in the 1500 meter run as Annie Higgins (4:47.95) and Alyssa Vis (4:49.91) would place fourth and sixth place finishes. 

Senior Elizabeth Clemente would secure a new personal best in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.73 placing seventh overall. 

In the women's 800 meter run, junior Emmaline Hannan would make her second appearance this outdoor season for the Blue Streaks as she would place 11th overall with a time of 2:24.93, followed by Carlee Blankenship (2:28.57) and Tori Dunham (2:29.37) placing 18th and 20th. 

To round up the performances for the women, in the 5000 meter run, leading the way was Sarah Weldon, who would place fourth overall with a time of 18:33.82. Sophomore Cassie Klein would earn herself a personal best, clocking in at 18:37.46, followed by senior Amanda Keim running 18:44.55 placing sixth. 

The Blue Streaks will be back in action this Thursday, April 25th at the Walsh Invitational in North Canton, Ohio.
