Blue Streaks Post Personal Records And Secure New Performances At The Rob & Patty Lydic Invitational

ADA – The Blue Streaks officially started their 2025 campaign last night at the Rob & Patty Lydic Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio.Ā 

The women would go on to place second overall as a team with a score of 140.5 points. Ohio Northern took home the meet title with a score of 208 points. Rounding up the team scores were St. Francis Indiana (70) and Bluffton (25.5).Ā 

Meet Results

The team's energy at the meet became the big highlight as many athletes would secure new personal bests and make their debuts for the program.Ā 

Leading off the meet in the field events was the women's long jump as first year Dakota Houston would win the event with a mark of 5.49 meters, followed by her teammates Paige Munchick (5.16 meters) and Aniela Balog (5.13 meters) to place third and fourth respectively.Ā 

In the women's weight throw, senior Cara Jewett would place third overall with a mark of 14.24 meters, while junior Sarah Hart would place fourth with a mark of 14.17 meters.Ā 

Going into the running events, first year Meah Prutzman would make her track & field debut in the 3000 meter run as she would place fifth overall with a time of 11:24.79.Ā 

First year Kylie Bennington would also make her debut as she would place fourth overall in the mile with a time of 5:34.25.Ā 

Paige Munchick would continue to set the bar for the Blue Streaks as she would place second overall in the 400 meter dash, recording a new personal best of 1:02.94. Kaleigh McNamara followed, finishing third with a time of 1:03.92.Ā 

In the 60 meter dash final, first year Dakota Houston would come back and win the event with a time of 7.84 seconds. In the prelim, she ran 7.81 seconds. Senior Mia Scott would place in the top five with a time of 8.04 seconds, followed by first year Kate Balland, securing sixth place with a time of 8.11 seconds.Ā 

The 1000 meter run was represented well by the Blue Streaks as junior Abby Schroff would lead for JCU as she would win the event with a time of 3:08.68. First year Natalie Chryst made her debut as well among the first years as she placed second overall with a time of 3:09.97. Cassie Klein (3:15.00) and Grace McKoon (3:22.81) would place sixth and eighth for the team.Ā 

It was a great day for the women full of first time debuts and notable performances throughout the meet.Ā 

Next up for the Blue Streaks will be the Spire Midwest Invitational at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio next Saturday, January 25th.Ā
