ALBION, Mich. – A Sunday trip to Michigan yielded strong results for John Carroll Men's Wrestling.

The Blue Streaks enjoyed perhaps the best tournament output of the season to date at the Albion Invitational.

John Carroll tallied a third-place finish as a team, with eight individual placers. Brett Stanley led the way by conquering the 125-pound bracket.

Juuso Young secured second at 197 in another great result. Alex Crane (133), Adom Sharpley (141), Noah Ruibal (149), and Thomas Lunt (285) all tallied fourth-place finishes. Will Allen and Oliver Skoczen (197) both nabbed fifth-place results.

Brett Stanley started out hot with an 18-1 tech fall and continued on from there with a pair of pin wins, the latter occurring in a narrowly contested semifinal. The Broadview Heights native finished things out in a fantastic fashion, beating Joshua Jasinowicz of East Stroudsburg University in a 9-0 major decision. An early takedown and two second-period nearfalls did the trick. This marks the second straight crown at the Albion Invite for the sophomore.

Juuso Young impressed at 197. The Port Allegany, Pennsylvania native roared for a pair of pins to roar into the semifinals. The first year snuck into the finals with a 4-2 decision. But in the finals, Young lost via pin to settle for second. Oliver Skoczen also did well in the weight class, rebounding from an opening loss to

Alex Crane opened with a 2-1 decision and 13-3 major decision before losing to the eventual champ in the quarterfinals, 8-0. The Thornville, Ohio native got into the third-place bout with an 8-0 decision, but dropped the match in a 6-3 decision.

Adom Sharpley fired up a pair of pin wins to get into the quarterfinals. The first year ran into trouble with a 5-3 decision defeat, but rebounded nicely in the consolations with 17-2 and 15-3 conquests. The Solon native settled for fourth place to end the day.

Noah Ruibal impressed at 149, as the first year kicked things off with a first-period fall and a 12-9 decision. Another first-period pin sent the Yardley, PA native to the semifinals, but then the roles were reversed, as Ruibal experienced defeat by a first-minute pin. His day ended in a second defeat with a 22-7 tech fall in the third-place match. Will Allen started out great at the weight class, as well, with 18-3 and 15-0 tech falls and later picked up a 5-0 decision to finish fifth.

Thomas Lunt enjoyed a solid day at his heavyweight class. A pair of pins sent the veteran to the quarterfinals with ease. The Xavier High School grad then experienced a pin defeat before rebounding with a pair of victories in the consolations.

On Saturday, a Blue Streak trio competed on Saturday at the Findlay Open, as well. Aiden Ashburn enjoyed the best day of the three Streaks with a third-place effort at 174 pounds. Three straight narrow wins (8-1, 4-3, 4-1) propelled him to the semifinals, where a 13-2 loss sent him to the third-place bout, which he won. Wills Bronson and Bear Horgan notched 2-2 records.
