The Blue Streaks men's wrestling team came to battle today in Rochester, NY.  They went 2-0 facing off in duals with New Jersey City University, who they beat 31-15, and Rochester Institute of Technology, who they beat 23-18.

New Jersey City University:
It was a rough start for John Carroll, as they only received points in the first 6 matches due to Brett Stanley winning by forfeit, and Vananthony Trunzo winning by decision 8-3.  However, the Blue Streaks were able to bounce back after being down 15-9 and win the last 4 matches straight.

Aiden Ashburn took the win by technical fall after 5 minutes, and Wills Bronson was able to secure the pin after just 23 seconds to put John Carroll up 20-15 over New Jersey City.

This was followed up by Jesse Kanatzar winning by technical fall in just over a minute, and finally Thomas Lunt getting a second pin for the Blue Streaks of the match in just under one minute.

The Blue Streaks ended with a 31-15 lead over the Gothic Knights to secure their first match win of the night.

Rochester Institute of Technology:
After taking a big win against NJCU, the Blue Streaks were right back to it against Rochest Institue of Technology (RIT).

This was a very different beginning for JCU compared to their first match, with Stanley, Alex Crane, and Ty Daugherty all winning the first three matches by decision, 6-1, 8-1, and 5-2, respectively.

Unfortunately, John Carroll went on to lose the next three matches in a row, before Ashburn turned things around, winning by decision 5-0.

Kanatzar was able to finish the pin in just over four minutes, and Bronson accounted for 6 more points with a forfeit victory.

The Blue Streaks held a 23-12 point lead over the Tigers heading into the final match and despite an unfortunate loss, they were able to hold onto the victory, finishing the match 23-18.

This was a gritty day for the Blue Streaks, traveling a couple hours away to New York to compete against two out of conference opponents.

Up next for John Carroll, they will compete at home for the last time this season in the JCU Open Sunday, February 16.
