Women’s Track & Field Currently In Third Place After Day One Of OAC Indoor Championships

Women's Track & Field Currently Sit In Third Place (46 Points) After Day One Of OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships
ADA, OH – The time has arrived as the Blue Streaks traveled to Ohio Northern University for the 2025 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the ONU Sports Center. 

The excitement in the air was felt as the women walked away with some very notable and impressive performances to boost the energy level for the team. 

Looking at the scores from day one, the Blue Streaks sit in third place with a total score of 46 points. The Purple Raiders of Mount Union lead the way with a score of 83.33 points, followed by the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern with 65 points. 

Day One Full Results

The day got started with the field events as first year Dakota Houston would secure her first OAC title in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.65 meters, a new personal best for the athlete out of Beachwood, Ohio. Also first year Aniela Balog would get herself on the board with an eighth place finish with a mark of 5.14 meters. 

In the women's weight throw, senior Cara Jewett would secure a seventh place finish with a mark of 14.93 meters to contribute for the Blue Streaks. 

A few hours later, the running events would kick off as senior Ellie Kitsmiller would win the 500 meter dash in dramatic fashion, clocking in at 1:17.93, just shy of breaking her own school record in the event. 

First year Sandra King would achieve a new personal best in the 400 meter dash, placing fifth overall with a time of 59.75 seconds to score some crucial points for the women's squad. 

The women's 60 meter dash prelims was an exciting one as first year Dakota Houston would return to the meet and break the school record with a time of 7.63 seconds to advance to tomorrow's final. The previous record of 7.65 seconds was held by Lucia Cannata in 2021. Senior Mia Scott would also advance to the finals with a time of 7.92 seconds, a new personal best placing fifth overall. 

In the 5000 meter run, junior Abby Schroff would lead the way for the Blue Streaks as she would secure a runner-up finish with a time of 18:09.26. Her teammate and first year Anne Rea would not be far behind as she would place third overall, achieving her first All-OAC honor with a time of 18:12.89, which is a new personal best. 

To conclude day one of the OAC Indoor Championships, the women's distance medley relay of Kelsey Sheridan, Kaleigh McNamara, Emmaline Hannan, and Alyssa Vis would place fourth overall with a time of 13:00.38 to contribute to the point total. 

The women will look to keep that same energy and bring the intensity going into day two as the field events kick off at 10:00 AM and the running events will follow at 2:30 PM.
