5 Women's Tennis Stars Earn All-OAC Honors

In a season that defied all preseason expectations, five John Carroll's Women Tennis players are receiving All-Ohio Athletic Conference Team honors. 

Maddie Kavenagh (First Team), Evelyn Deren (First Team), Felicity Kolb (Second Team),  Emma Smith (Honorable Mention) and Madi Davila (Honorable Mention) were all commemorated as All-OAC members. 

Maddie Kavenagh once again joined the All-OAC First Team as a sophomore after making it as a freshman, proving again she belongs amongst the elite of the OAC. The Akron native played nearly every match in the first doubles slot, churning out an 8-6 record with all eight of her match wins coming in straight sets. Kavenagh and doubles partner Evelyn Deren went 12-3 overall on the season and 3-1 in conference play. 

Speaking of Deren, the other half of the Blue Streaks 1+2 sophomore punch had a stellar second year campaign. Deren also repeats as an All-OAC First Team member, making the sophomore two for two on the prestigious team as well. The Northville, Michigan native went 8-7 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. 

Felicity Kolb joins the All-OAC Second Team for the third consecutive season sporting an 11-5 record on the season. The junior was impressive in conference play, going for a 3-1 record including a clutch win in the Tulare season finale for OAC Athlete of the Week honor plus another win in the OAC Semifinals, also against the Cardinals. Kolb impressed in doubles play with Emma Smith, with the duo flashing a 10-3 record. 

Smith ended her first season with a 12-2 singles record and a nod to the All-OAC Honorable Mention team. Smith swept her competition in conference play, going 4-0 on the season. Bethel Park, PA native went 11-3 in doubles overall, including 10-3 with the aforementioned Kolb. 

Madi Davila joins Smith as another first year on the ballot of honorable mention All-OAC. Davila went 11-5 in both singles and doubles en route to an impressive first season in blue and gold. Her shining moment this season came in the OAC semifinals against Otterbein, coming back to send the Blue Streaks to the OAC Tournament Championship Game after dropping her first set and winning 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-2.
