DENISON, Ohio & DOVER, Ohio – Fresh off a remarkable 2024-25 campaign, John Carroll Men's Golf is off and racing to start the 2025-26 season.

John Carroll Men's Golf split the squad a few days after finalizing the roster, heading to a pair of tournaments in Ohio.

The JCU "A" team headed to an event hosted by NCAC rival Denison University, the Ted Barclay Invitational. The Blue Streaks took the crown by six strokes at the event, hosted at Denison Golf Club, located in Granville. Justy VonLehmden was crowned the medalist, winning by a single stroke.

The JCU "B" team traveled to another event hosted by an NCAC school in the College of Wooster, the Gatorade Collegiate. John Carroll tied for second in the field of the tournament, which took place at Zoar Village Golf Course in Dover.

Justy VonLehmden enjoyed a heck of a Saturday afternoon, providing the top individual score for the Blue Streaks and the second-best in the field. The junior connected on back-to-back-to-back birdies on No. 4, 5, and 6 as part of an impressive front nine effort. For the day, the Saint John's Jesuit grad finished with a 69 (-2).

On Sunday, he encountered adversity at times, including calling a penalty on himself on the 15th hole for inadvertently moving the ball while taking a practice putting stroke from the fringe of the green. But despite this, the Toledo native tapped in a short putt on No. 18 to card a 73 and win the tournament by one stroke.

Daniel Donahue kickstarted his junior year in a nice way on Saturday with a 72 (+1). He tabbed par on holes 11-17 and birdied No. 18 to wrap up the day nicely. On Day 2, the Pittsburgh native picked it up, avoiding any negative holes until late, birdieing twice before that. Donahue notched an even 71 for the day, good for a tie for second place immediately behind VonLehmden.

Robert Kimmel made his John Carroll debut this weekend on the top team. The Beachwood native birdied on No. 4 and 12 as part of a nice beginning, adding up to a 74 (+3) by day's end. The Beachwood native improved plenty on the second day, shaving three strokes from his score to match Donahue. Three birdies on the back nine, five total for the day, made it possible.

Wade Boyle played well on Saturday, especially with a one-under-par effort on the back nine. The Greensburg, Pennsylvania native birdied on No. 18 to conclude the day with a 72 (+1). Day 2 was less successful than the first, but with a 77, he still had to feel solid about the weekend.

London Hoyser had bright spots on his Saturday effort, namely a birdie on No. 9, but stood with a 77 after the first round. In a mirror opposite of Boyle, Hoyser improved to shoot a one-over-par 72 on the second day.

Individually, Austin Malley tabbed a 77-70-147 and Owen Tehan carded a 75-75-150. Malley's day two effort was tied for the second best of any golfer for the weekend.

JCU "B" Team

Max Devins did strongly on the first day, as the sophomore turned in a care of 74. A birdie on No. 2 was his prime highlight. The Aurora native followed it up with a 75, good for five-over-par for the weekend, a tie for eighth place.

Like many of his teammates, Kamden Mowry started the weekend with a birdie, but cooled off some the remainder of the way, concluding Saturday with a 78. His Sunday effort was much better, as the veteran tallied an even par to sneak into the top 10.

Nick Pihl began his collegiate career with a bang, tapping in birdies on his first two holes, plus another later on the front nine. The Delaware native stayed on par for much of his final nine to conclude Saturday with a 74. The first-time Streak notched a 76 on the second day, tying Mowry for 10th.

Andrew Schwartz managed well in his first action of the season, with a strong start. He cooled slightly to begin the back nine but finished nicely with back-to-back birdies on No. 16 and 17 for a 76. The senior snagged a 75 in the second round for seven-over-par.

Regan Logan experienced some jitters in his debut, but did birdie on No. 8 as part of an 80 on his first day as a Blue Streak. He improved on his second day, turning in a 76 for a total of 156 for the event.

Paul Litrenta carded a line of 77-78-155 for the Blue Streaks as an individual.
