Women’s Track & Field Excels At Leo Miller/Hayden Snow Meet of Champions In Their Second Home Meet of The Year

Women's Track & Field Competes At Leo Miller/Hayden Snow Meet Of Champions, Highlighted By Several Key Performances
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – It was another exciting and eventful week for the Blue Streaks as they returned home for the Leo Miller/Hayden Snow Meet of Champions inside the Athletic Wellness & Event Center (AWE).

The women's track & field team posted high finishes and fast times that helped boost their conference and national marks. 

Throughout the meet, they were able to recognize two former standout athletes that produced a lot of success in the program. Both Hayden Snow '20 and Leo Miller '87 were honored as the first two athletes to have the meet named after. 

The teams that made the trip over to compete included Case Western Reserve, Baldwin Wallace, Ursuline College, and Carnegie Mellon.

Molly Brown (60 Meter Dash): 8.36
Dakota Houston (200 Meter Dash): 24.78
Rosie Murray (400 Meter Dash): 1:01.88
Natalie Chryst (800 Meter Run): 2:21.74
Alyssa Vis (Mile): 5:02.27
Abby Schroff (3000 Meter Run): 10:17.02
Dakota Houston (Long Jump): 5.84
Tori Miller (Triple Jump): 10.89
Breanna Berwald (Weight Throw): 13.52

Sophomore Dakota Houston continues to have a stellar start to the season as she breaks the indoor long jump school record for the second consecutive week with a mark of 5.84 meters (19' 2"). Houston also won the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.78 seconds as well. 

Posting a huge personal best was junior Aya Alramahi, placing seventh overall with a time of 1:02.98. She broke her previous record by six seconds. 

In the 800 meter run, sophomore Natalie Chryst led from start to finish, posting her fastest time of her career in the event. 

Another athlete who came out of the gate and impressed the entire field was senior Alyssa Vis as she was just one second shy of breaking the indoor mile school record. Her time of 5:02.27 puts her at 15th in the country with a conversion of 4:59.31. 

The duo of Abby Schroff and Morgan Dobos posted leading conference marks of 10:17.02 and 10:18.56 in the 3000 meter run. They both finished in the top three. 

It was a successful day for the women as they will now gear up for this next month ahead.

Next up for the Blue Streaks will be next Friday-Saturday, January 30th-31st as they will travel to Baldwin Wallace University for the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge. A small group will travel to the Penn State National Open at Penn State University during that same weekend.
