Women's Soccer starts NCAC play on Saturday

JCU will have a myriad of home events this weekend

A very busy weekend is on tap this weekend, as the Blue Streaks host events in a whopping seven sports. Yes, John Carroll will be busy this weekend. Here's what to expect.

Women's and Men's Cross Country

The Blue Streaks are in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Paul Short Run at Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. This meet is a big indicator for the Blue Streaks as the calendar turns to October.

Women's Golf
JCU Women's Golf will host the JCU Fall Invitational this weekend Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4 at Manakiki Golf Course, one of the top events of the fall for the team.

Julia Gulla is the reigning NCAC Women's Golf of the Week following a great performance at Allegheny. During the two-day invitational, the sophomore tabbed back-to-back birdies on No. 14-15 and avoided any bogeys on the back nine. Following that exceptional round, Gulla tabbed a solid 77 (+5) on Monday and placed second.

Field Hockey
The Blue Streaks host North Coast Athletic Conference rival Denison University on Schweickert Field on Saturday, October 3 at 12 pm.

A slow start on Tuesday led to a defeat for the Blue Streaks. Kierra Maxie and Franchesca Rao recorded goals throughout the game, keeping the team's record of scoring each game alive.

Volleyball
An important home game is on tap this Saturday at 1 pm. John Carroll will host DePauw as part of the annual Alumni Recognition Match.

The Blue Streaks are desperately in need of a win, in the midst of a 3-game losing streak. JCU lost to Ohio Wesleyan to start conference play last weekend.

Women's Soccer
The Blue Streaks are set to begin NCAC play on Saturday, hosting Wittenberg on Saturday 3 at 1 pm.

Despite outshooting the Yellow Jackets in the second half, JCU Women's Soccer felt the sting of defeat earlier this week. Brooke Berkowitz hammered in two goals, raising her season tally to six, tops in the conference.

Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving
JCU Swimming & Diving hosts its home opener this weekend. The team welcomes Heidelberg University to Johnston Natatorium on Saturday, October 3.

John Carroll will look to start strong in what should be a fast meet with a number of shorter events. The Blue Streaks will run diving concurrently.

Football
While every other team is at home this weekend, JCU Football will be on the road.

#8 John Carroll will be at #18 Washington University in St. Louis. The Blue Streaks will face the biggest test of the young season, as both JCU and WashU bring in 4-0 records. This marks the Bears' first season as a member of the NCAC, this game may go a long way to determining a conference champ.

Men's Soccer
A whole new season is set to begin for John Carroll on Saturday with the start of conference play.

The Blue Streaks got the week off to get rested and prepare for Wittenberg. The Tigers will do battle with the Blue & Gold at 4 pm at Shula Stadium.

Women's Tennis
In a scrimmage, JCU Women's Tennis will host Capital University at the Short Family Tennis Center on Saturday.
