Happy Friday, Blue Streaks!
As the fall season nears playoff season, here's what to look out for this weekend:
Football
The Blue Streaks pulled out a dramatic victory over Wabash for homecoming weekend. A tight game all the way through, a fantastic final touchdown from Jack McDaniels provided the lead. With the Little Giants threatening to score on the next drive, it was the Blue Streaks defense that sealed the win for JCU.
Hosting from Don Shula Stadium, JCU will face off against The College of Wooster on Saturday, October 24, at 1:05 pm.
The game will be broadcast on Rock Entertainment Sports Network, Cleveland's 43.
Field Hockey
The first JCU Field Hockey season is drawing to a close. The Blue Streaks have surpassed expectations, entering their final games with a 6-8 overall record and a 4-4 conference record.
For their final home game of the season, which is also Senior Day, JCU hosts Kenyon College on Schweickert Field Saturday at 3 pm.
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving
JCU Swimming and Diving hosted an alumni meet last weekend, welcoming back a number of excellent swimmers to celebrate the teams' first wins of the season.
Continuing their hosting streak, JCU will welcome Grove City College in the Johnson Natatorium on Saturday at 4 pm.
Volleyball
JCU Volleyball experienced a disappointing loss earlier this week against reigning NCAC Champs, the Wittenberg Tigers. It was a hard-fought, exciting match with a final line score of 23-25, 21-25, 22-25. Mary Kate Sheehan had another excellent game, leading the team in kills with 11 at the end of the night.
The Blue Streaks travel to Oberlin to play the Yeowomen on Saturday at 1 pm.
Women's Soccer
The Blue Streaks played an incredible defensive game against the NCAC leader Kenyon. A goal from Ella Wilgor early in the game almost carried the Blue Streaks to a victory, but a second-half goal from the Owls ended the game in a tie.
JCU Women's Soccer travels to Wooster to compete against The College of Wooster on Saturday at 3 pm.
Club Hockey
A three-game winning streak carries JCU Hockey into another weekend. With two goals on the weekend, Colin Cronin finds himself third in the nation for points with 23 on the season. Moving to a 7-3-0 record for the season, the Blue Streaks have a perfect 2-0-0 CHMA record.
JCU Hockey travels on Friday to Hope Gas Ice Pavilion in WV to compete against West Virginia University at 6:30 pm. Then the team returns home to Gilmour Academy to host Kent State University on Saturday, October 24 at 6 pm.
