NCAA Men's Wrestling Region V Championships Preview

The Blue Streaks are set to host the NCAA Region V Championships on Friday & Saturday in the AWE

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- For the first time, John Carroll is set to host an NCAA Wrestling Regional Championship.

A total of 17 teams will descend upon JCU's beautiful, new Athletic, Wellness & Event Center for the Region V Championships on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28. 

The last time John Carroll hosted a national qualifier was in 2008, when JCU hosted the OAC Championship. In 2013, the NCAA moved to a regional format with six regions. In 2025, a seventh region was added and the regions were realigned putting JCU in Region V (aka Region 5). The top three wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will welcome 21 wrestlers per bracket. 

A year ago, North Central, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Millikin were the top 3 teams in Region V. In terms of NWCA tournament national rankings, North Central is the top-ranked team in the region at #6, followed by UW-Whitewater at #9, Wabash at #14, and Elmhurst at #24. The University of Chicago and Millikin did not make the tournament rankings, but garner #14 and #21 in the NWCA's duals rankings.
