Women’s Track & Field Crowned NCAC Indoor Champions For First Time In Program History

Women's Track & Field Secures NCAC Indoor Championship For First Time In Program History
SPRINGFIELD, OH – For the first time since 2021, the women have become conference champions. 

In their first NCAC championship appearance, the women's track & field program made history and fulfilled their goal. 

Every performance helped gain momentum throughout the meet to get to where they wanted to be and that ultimately paid off for this group as they can finally celebrate as conference champions. 

Finishing in second place overall was Ohio Wesleyan University with 150 points, followed by DePauw University with 137 points to round up the top three in scoring.

The second day of competition started off on a high note as senior Tori Miller earned her third individual conference championship of her career, winning the triple jump with a mark of 11.39 meters. 

Aniela Balog and Ella Gill were able to help contribute in big ways and finish fourth and seventh overall. 

In the next field event, Sarah Hart placed fifth overall in the shot put to help earn some valuable points. 

After winning the 5000 meter run the day before, senior Abby Schroff continued to impress as she would win both the mile and 3000 meter run on the second day and earn a total of 30 points for the Blue Streaks. Schroff was also named the Distance Athlete of the Meet for her victories in all three events. 

Abby also broke the school record in the mile with that time. 

Following up the scoring in the 3000 meter run were seniors Morgan Dobos (second overall) and Emma Hvizdos (eighth overall). Dobos earned her second All-Conference accolade of the weekend. 

Alyssa Vis earned a runner up finish in the mile and placed sixth overall in the 800 meter run to showcase that depth for JCU throughout the weekend. 

Sophomore Sandra King carried over her strong preliminary efforts into the final as she became the individual champion in the 400 meter dash, breaking her own school record in the process as well. 

Earning her second individual title of the weekend was Dakota Houston winning the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.60 seconds. Houston also placed second overall in the 200 meter dash and 4x400 meter relay. 

Another sophomore who continued her strong efforts was Natlie Chryst in the 800 meter run, placing second overall with a time of 2:15.88 to earn All-Conference in the event. 

Last, but not least in the women's 4x400 meter relay, the team of Sandra King, Rosie Murray, Paige Munchick, & Dakota Houston earned runner-up with a time of 3:55.50. 

Coach Daniel Tutskey, Director of Cross Country/Track & Field at John Carroll University became very emotional talking to the group for not just their success on the track, but how they have carried themselves throughout the year to get to this point. 

It was a special day full of gratitude and appreciation that the women displayed. This will be a day they will never forget. 

The Blue Streaks will now gear up for last chance meet week, chasing NCAA marks in order to qualify for the national championships in two weeks.
