3 Blue Streaks Set to Represent JCU on the Patriots in Super Bowl LX

| By:

Josh McDaniels '99, Riley Larkin '19, and former JCU coach Alex Brooks will rep John Carroll

SAN FRANCISCO – For a 10th straight year, a Blue Streak will be represented in the Super Bowl.

A trio of Blue Streaks will represent John Carroll University on sports' biggest stage in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8 at 6:30 pm at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The New England Patriots will have two Blue Streaks on the sidelines coaching and one front office executive watching. Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels '99, Offensive Assistant Riley Larkin '19, and Southwest Area Scout Alex Brooks (a former JCU coach) are set to rep JCU.

The 10-year streak for JCU marks the longest stretch for the school with a Super Bowl representative, going back to Super Bowl LI in 2017. If the Patriots win, it will mark the eighth consecutive year where at least one Blue Streak will win the Super Bowl (since SB LIII).

Josh McDaniels '99 is the most prominent representative for John Carroll. McDaniels will make his 10th Super Bowl appearance, which equates to 17% of the Super Bowls ever played, quite the feat.

McDaniels guides a reenergized offense led by quarterback Drake Maye. McDaniels has maximized the offense under the emerging star signalcaller with a balanced attack. The veteran playcaller has done an outstanding job this season in his 19th season overall with the Patriots, his first year back in his third stint.

Among the 27 Blue Streaks to reach the Super Bowl, McDaniels now holds the lead with 10 Super Bowl appearances.

Riley Larkin '19 is making his first Super Bowl appearance but is no stranger to the big stage. A year ago, Larkin stood on the sidelines next to Ryan Day as Ohio State won the National Championship. This year, the former JCU quarterback will find himself on the sidelines looking for a title at the next level.

Larkin joined McDaniels and Mike Vrabel's staff as an offensive assistant over the offseason. The Patriots' offense has been humming all season, no doubt with Larkin doing strong work to make the success possible.

Alex Brooks is JCU's final representative. A staple of the scouting department since 2018, Brooks serves as a Southwest Area Scout. The Cleveland native started his football career in University Heights, serving as an assistant coach working with the defensive line. Brooks played football at West Virginia University after graduating from Mayfield High School in 2013.
