UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The shining resume of Luke Chicone continues to add to its luster.

Following a remarkable campaign, the graduate student garners more honors.

D3hoops.com has recognized Chicone as the Co-Player of the Year for Region 7 and a First Team selection.

With his veteran leadership, the Blue Streaks won the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, the program's third straight conference tournament title. John Carroll made a fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the second such stretch in program history.

Chicone set new single-season program standards for points, assists, and steals, besting several records that had stood for a long time. Breaking the JCU record for points in a season is particularly impressive, since George Dalton had held the mark since 1952-53. Chicone finished the season with 23.7 points per game.

The Mentor native secured the NCAC Player of the Year and Top Defensive Player awards as well as NCAC Tournament MVP honors (after setting the NCAC record for points scored in the tournament with 101). On Sunday, Chicone made the Bevo Francis Award Top 25 Watch List.

Nationally, Chicone ranks in the top-10 in NCAA Division III heading into the Round of 8 in field goals (2nd, 266), assists (4th, 191), points (5th, 710), steals (5th, 83), assists per game (8th, 6.4) and in assist/turnover ratio (9th, 3.08).

Chicone shares the Region 7 Player of the Year honor with Jalen Overway of Calvin.
