Women’s Track & Field Takes Step In Second Split Squad Weekend At Georgia Tech & Baldwin Wallace

ATLANTA, GA & BEREA, OH – It was a weekend full of major key performances for the women's track & field team. 

The team traveled to both Georgia Tech and Baldwin Wallace University for their second straight split squad weekend for the program. 

At the Sparky Adams Invite, the women placed fifth overall with a score of 67 points amidst the cold and rain.

Dakota Houston (100 Meter Dash): 11.67
Alyssa Vis (1500 Meter Run): 4:34.50
Rosie Murray, Dakota Houston, Paige Munchick, & Sandra King (4x100 Meter Relay): 46.85
Kaleigh McNamara (200 Meter Dash): 26.73
Jayda Champer (200 Meter Dash): 26.73
Natalie Chryst (800 Meter Run): 2:16.85
Mallory Chicone (800 Meter Run): 2:28.42
Kelsey Sheridan (1500 Meter Run): 4:48.58

In Atlanta, three performances from JCU were able to climb up the national rankings. 

Sophomore Dakota Houston runs 11.67 in the 100 meter dash and is now ranked second in the country with that time. She was .03 seconds away from tying her school record. 

Alyssa Vis ran in the 1500 meter run and placed 22nd overall in a loaded field with a time of 4:34.50. Vis is currently ranked 30th in Division III with that time. 

The women's 4x100 meter relay of Rosie Murray, Dakota Houston, Paige Munchick, and Sandra King keep getting faster every week as they post a new season best of 46.85 seconds. They are in the top 10 in Division III. 

Personal bests were made at Baldwin Wallace through the rainy conditions. 

First year Jayda Champer earns her second straight personal best in the women's 200 meter dash, running 26.73 seconds. 

Natalie Chryst (2:16.85) and Mallory Chicone (2:28.42) took major steps forward from the last couple of weeks and earned high finishes in the women's 800 meter run. 

Another duo that earned new personal bests are Kelsey Sheridan (4:48.58) and Kylie Bennington (4:48.92) making major moves throughout the race to place themselves in the top five. Sheridan would go on to win the race. 

In the women's 5000 meter run, seniors Cassie Klein (18:14.71) and Emma Hvizdos (18:19.78) earned lifetime bests placing third and fourth. 

The field events added more momentum for the women. Aniela Balog placed third overall in the triple jump with a mark of 10.72 meters (35' 2"). 

Sarah Hart and Breanna Berwald also earned high finishes in both the shot put and discus throw events. 

This was another weekend of putting everything together for the Blue Streaks as they will now have one more week remaining until championship competition.
