Men's Lacrosse Concludes Campaign with Wittenberg Win

The Blue Streaks dominated the Tigers from start to finish

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Playing out the string, John Carroll Men's Lacrosse played the final game of the regular season on Saturday.

With nothing to play for but pride, the Blue Streaks dominated the Wittenberg Tigers on the road.

John Carroll concluded North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 3-5 mark.

Larry Voss and Sean Hogan got the Blue Streaks on the board in the opening quarter. The visitors kept the Tigers off the board in the first.

Braden Zarek tallied a nice goal at the 12:20 mark of the second quarter. Wittenberg got on the board a few minutes later with a man-up goal, but Voss quickly fired back with a man-up tally of his own, aided by Casey LaForce. Right before the horn, William Dunn found twine, setting ahead the hosts comfortably at half, 5-1.

Billy Paladino and Sean Hogan connected for the first goal of the third quarter about four minutes in. Wittenberg tabbed back-to-back goals to make things interesting before John Carroll slammed the door shut. Voss began the 4-0 run, with Dunn notching a man-up goal to keep things rolling. In the final 90 seconds, both Seamus Nicholson and Josh Lombardo netted goals to propel JCU to a 10-3 lead heading into the fourth.

Dunn opened the scoring in the final stanza. Wittenberg replied, but JCU then tore off a 3-goal run to finalize the victory. Zarek, Lombardo, and Nicholas Yemma completed the scoring.

Zarek led all Blue Streaks with 4 points. In his final collegiate game, Dunn achieved a hat trick. Voss also finished with 3 goals.

Tyler Pirain anchored the defense with 4 caused turnovers, followed by Ivan Roeder with three. Devin Holder tabbed 13 saves.

JCU finishes the season with a 3-8 overall mark.
