Joe Ginley, Sports Information Director At John Carroll, Wins Two CSC Fred Stabley Sr Writing Contest District Awards From 2025 Calendar Year
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The John Carroll University Sports Information Department have been honored for a few achievements to close out the 2025-2026 year.

A total of four articles written for JCU Athletics have earned recognition from the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Joe Ginley '16, Sports Information Director at John Carroll University has won two CSC Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest awards in District Four, while the other two articles were named District Runner-Up. All four pieces were written by Ginley.

The Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest recognizes top writing and storytelling from current 2025-26 CSC members in seven different categories from the 2025 calendar year across all divisions.

These categories include athlete profile, coach/administrator profile, event coverage, general feature/blog, historical feature, season recap/preview, social justice/diversity & inclusion, and student submissions.

District winners will advance to the national ballot, with national winners in each of the eight categories to be announced later this month. For the second straight year, the contest was split into College and Division I divisions, allowing the recognition of the work done by members from smaller offices without as much time to devote to longer feature writing.

This marks the third straight year that the Sports Information Department at JCU has secured four District accolades.

The first District winner for JCU featured #9 John Carroll Football defeating #2 Mount Union in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs in the event coverage category.
