CLEVELAND – At the end of a successful debut season in the North Coast Athletic Conference, John Carroll Women's Tennis has secured great recognition.

The Blue Streaks turned some heads this season, turning in a 5-2 conference mark and reaching the semifinal round of the NCAC Tournament. Accordingly, JCU garnered some hard-won honors.

Maddie Kavenagh secured First Team All-NCAC status, while Evelyn Deren snagged Second Team recognition. Kavenagh and Deren, aka "Mevelyn" garnered Second Team billing as a Doubles pair.

Full All-NCAC Team

Maddie Kavenagh made first team all-conference in all three seasons of her collegiate career. The Akron native starred atop the singles lineup for JCU, often anchoring the team with top billing. Overall, the Revere grad tallied a 6-9 record, though 4-3 in conference play. On March 17, Kavenagh was heralded as the NCAC Athlete of the Week. With plans to graduate a year early, Kavenagh will certainly be missed, both on and off the court.

Evelyn Deren occupied an important spot all season long in singles play at either the #1 or #2 flight. The junior brought a cool, confident approach to the court for the Blue Streaks, and it showed in the results. The Northville, Michigan finished with an 11-6 overall record, 5-2 against conference foes. Deren won NCAC Athlete of the Week honors on March 10.

On the All-NCAC Doubles list, Kavenagh and Deren appeared on the Second Team. The star duo paired all season long at the #1 doubles spot, securing many key victories along the way. The two combined for a 6-1 mark against NCAC opponents this season.
