Alramahi, Gast, Grillo, Herczog, Su, And Tirado Earn CSC Academic All-District Status From The 2025-2026 Seasons
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH. – The men's cross country/track & field continue to bring in the accolades after a historic 2025-2026 campaign.Â
On Tuesday, June 23rd, the College Sports Communicators announced the 2025-2026 Academic All-District Team for both cross country and track & field, which recognizes the athletes from all divisions who have earned  3.5 cumulative GPA while earning a top 50 individual mark at an NCAA competition or in an event.Â
Basheer Alramahi, Tyler Gast, Max Grillo, Ben Herczog, Sam Su, and Tony Tirado have all accomplished Academic All-District this season.Â
This is the third straight year for both Alramahi and Gast to be recognized for this award in their careers.Â
Basheer Alramahi concludes his Blue Streak career with another impressive campaign. He picked up a combined four First-Team All-American accolades from both indoor and outdoor and was named a four time All-NCAC athlete. Alramahi was also recognized as the 2026 NCAA Elite 90 Recipient from the indoor season for the second time in his career, which has never been done before by a Division III student-athlete. Basheer will go on to medical school at LECOM in Erie, Pennsylvania starting at the end of July.Â
Tyler Gast also ends his time as a Blue Streak as one of the best sprinters to come through the program. Gast earned his first individual All-American in the 400 meter dash at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, which ultimately ended with him collecting four First-Team All-Americans from both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Tyler also became a two-time All-NCAC athlete and was named USTFCCCA All-Region for the men. Tyler earned his masters degree in Business Administration.Â
Max Grillo earns himself on the list for his solid efforts throughout the indoor season. The senior from Canton Central Catholic placed fourth overall in the men's 800 meter run at the 2026 NCAC Indoor Championships and placed himself among the best in the region. Grillo will return for the Blue Streaks next year for a fifth-year, while going to graduate school.Â
Ben Herczog took a major step forward this year and helped the Blue Streaks to secure a team conference championship this spring. He earned his first All-NCAC accolade in the javelin throw with a mark of 50.02 meters (164' 1"), while being named USTFCCCA Great Lakes All-Region. Ben is pursuing his undergrad in Biology.Â
Sam Su had himself a historic sophomore campaign for the men's program this year. After qualifying for both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships, he earned First-Team All-American honors in the mile and 1500 meter run. He was the runner up at this year's outdoor championships, while breaking the school record with a time of 3:45.44. The Woodridge native also became a two-time NCAC Champion in both events as well. Sam is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Finance.Â
Lastly, junior Tony Tirado continued to be a valuable contributor for the Blue Streaks. He also qualified for the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships for the 4x400 meter relay, which led to him earning First-Team All-American honors. Tirado was named All-NCAC in the 400 meter hurdles outdoors and earned USTFCCCA All-Region. Tirado is currently pursuing his undergrad in Clinical Psychology.Â
The Academic All-District honorees will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on July 14th.Â
