Women's Tennis Logs 6 ITA Scholar Athletes Plus ITA All-Academic Team Status

Evelyn Deren, Morgan Dobos, Maddie Kavenagh, Felicity Kolb, Zoe Nicholas, and Emma Smith all made the grade

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – Following a fantastic first season in the North Coast Athletic Conference, John Carroll Women's Tennis has tallied recognition for off-court performance, as well.

The Blue Streaks secured All-Academic Team status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and six Blue Streaks won 2026 ITA Division III Scholar-Athlete recognition.  

Evelyn Deren, Morgan Dobos, Maddie Kavenagh, Felicity Kolb, Zoe Nicholas, and Emma Smith are all ITA Scholar-Athletes. 

In 2026, a total of 1,309 Division III Women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 177 Women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Blue Streaks made the grade as an ITA All-Academic Team. 

Student-athletes must maintain a 3.5 grade point average for the current academic year to be eligible for ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction. Teams must have a GPA of 3.2 or above. 

Evelyn Deren is no stranger to academic awards, as this is her third ITA Scholar-Athlete plaque. Earlier in the summer, the Michigander snagged Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators. The rising senior starred on the All-NCAC team after earning NCAC Athlete of the Week honors on March 10. She is pursuing her degree in Accounting & Finance. 

Morgan Dobos returned to the tennis team after competing for JCU Track & Field. The Copley native proved to be a significant asset for the team, coming up in the clutch on several occasions. The Forensic Psychology major is a high achiever in the classroom, too.

Maddie Kavenagh stands as a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete. And how smart is Kavenagh? The Akron native just completed her JCU degree in Exercise Science a year early, no easy feat. The Revere grad registered All-NCAC honors in May and then followed it up with CSC Academic All-District status. 

Felicity Kolb completed a strong career in University Heights this past spring. The star from Batavia, Illinois stands as a four-time ITA Scholar Athlete, previously earning the honor in 2025, 2024, and 2023. Kolb completed her Chemistry degree in May. 

Zoe Nicholas garners ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the first time following a nice sophomore season. The Medina native earned a few important #3 doubles wins, including a victory against DePauw and a narrow conquest vs. Otterbein. Nicholas is a Biology major. 

Emma Smith continued her development as a key member of the team. The sophomore played a vital role in the Blue Streaks' solid conference debut, ending the year as a member of the CSC Academic All-District team. The Nursing major also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status in 2025.
