BUFFALO – John Carroll Volleyball had a successful weekend as they dominated the Bengal Classic in Buffalo, NY. 

The Blue Streaks roared past SUNY Geneseo on Friday night to start the tournament, 25-20, 25-16, 25-17. John Carroll started off on the right foot on Saturday, beating Buffalo State in four sets: 18-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-17. To finish off the weekend, the Blue Streaks dominated the University of Rochester in 3 sets: 25-15, 25-16, 15-17.

Tess Murray, Natalie Glowe, and Olivia Mogyordy all made the 2026 Bengal Classic All-Tournament Team.

JCU vs. SUNY Geneseo

The weekend started with a fantastic offensive showing, as the Blue Streaks started out with a .480 attack percentage in the opening set. John Carroll played largely mistake-free volleyball. Natalie Glowe and Hailey Williams ushered the offense. A service ace by Williams ended the first set with a 25-20 conquest.

The teams played close in the second set until the Blue Streaks fired up an 8-1 run to take control, 20-11. Errors set back the Knights, as Williams dominated at the service line. A couple late SUNY Geneseo service errors plus an Olivia Mogyordy service ace ended the set at 25-16.

The teams traded jabs to start the third, battling to a 14-all deadlock. A 6-1 run grabbed the momentum for JCU, made possible by some good work by Glowe and a pair of Knights errors. Williams ended the match with a pair of service aces, 25-17.

Glowe topped the team with 11 kills. Tess Murray tacked on 14 assists, while Olivia Mogyordy managed 14 digs.

JCU vs. Buffalo State

The hosts snagged the opening set, as JCU struggled to get the offense going. Buffalo State managed to grab the lead early on in the set and didn't look back, running away with a 25-18 set win.

JCU stole control of the second set with an 11-1 run powered by five Mary Kate Sheehan kills. Khloe Trivoli kept the Blue Streaks' offense humming, and mistakes by the Bengals ensured no comeback would materialize.

With Tess Murray at the line, the Blue Streaks went off to the races and a 9-point run, as errors sank the Bengals. The visitors never looked back, as the Bengals kept committing errors in a lopsided 25-13 conquest for the Blue Streaks.

Buffalo State looked to have an advantage early with a 14-11 lead. But then with Trivoli at the line, the Blue Streaks roared for nine unanswered points, as Glowe, Sheehan, and Brooke Conlan all contributed to the massive run. With a 7-point lead, JCU didn't look back, finishing off the Bengals, 25-17.

Glowe topped the team with 15 kills, while Sheehan and Williams both authored nine. Murray tabbed 24 assists and a team-best 19 digs, a season high.

JCU vs. Rochester 

The Clevelanders took full control from the get-go, racing out to a 6-1 lead with Williams at the service line, leading to a Rochester timeout. The Yellowjackets stemmed the bleeding and chipped away at the deficit. Rochester got within two at a couple of points but no further, as Glowe and Sheehan formed a formidable duo up front and dominated late in a 25-15 victory. 

The teams battled to a 9-9 draw before a monster 7-point JCU run allowed the Blue Streaks to take control. The Blue Streaks continued their run and gave the Yellowjackets no chance of catching up. Once again, Sheehan and Glowe created a duo that helped to give John Carroll the 25-16 victory. 

Once again, it looked to be an even set early on, with a 7-7 draw. It was a back-and-forth match until strong runs by Khloe Trivoli and Tess Murray helped the Streaks pull away. Rochester was able to make it the closest set so far, but still felt short to the Streaks. John Carroll walked away with the 25-17 victory in a 3-set sweep. 

Glowe topped the team with 13 kills, and Sheehans 9 kills helped bring the Streaks come out victorious.
