Kamden Mowry Garners NCAC Athlete of the Week Honor for Men's Golf

Mowry set the single-round individual record and tied for the 36-hole record

CLEVELAND – A historic weekend for John Carroll Men's Golf merits a high honor for the Blue Streaks.

After setting a pair of impressive records, a star senior for JCU Men's Golf has been crowned with a weekly award.

Kamden Mowry is the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.

Last Sunday and Monday at the Jimmy Hanlin Invitational, Mowry made history. In the first round, the Ashland native recorded an unreal round of 64, the best score recorded by a JCU Men's Golfer in program history. The previous mark of 65 had stood for a decade-and-a-half, dating back to Hall of Famer Blake Furgerson (achieved on September 15, 2009 at Oak Haven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio). 

Mowry tallied three birdies on the front before registering three straight birdies on No. 14-16 to make his historic feat possible. 

Mowry followed up his six-under-par effort at Little Mountain Country Club with another nice round on the second day. With a mark of 72, Mowry ensured his spot in another spot in the history book: Best 36-hole individual score. Mowry tied Justy VonLehmden for the feat, as his fellow senior also rocked a 136 over 36 holes.

In addition, Mowry was crowned as the medalist for the Jimmy Hanlin Invitational.

Mowry and the Blue Streaks will be back in action in a couple weeks at Firestone Country Club for the Blue Streak Invitational.
