Box Score
John Carroll scored the first point of the game, but Wilmington would be in control the rest of the way as the Blue Streaks' offense remained in deep freeze over the course of an 83-55 loss to the host Quakers Saturday in Wilmington, Ohio.
Caitlin Sureck split a pair of free throws at the 19:10 mark of the first half to open the scoring, but the Quakers would score the next six
It was still a close margin when Whitney Hamilton canned a jumper with 12:58 left in the opening half that cut the Wilmington lead to 14-12. But a 7-0 run by the home team started to put some distance between the combatants. The Blue Streaks trailed by 11 points at the break, 42-31
Again, Sureck would split a pair of free throws to open the half, but in a strikingly similar replay of the opening period, Wilmington rattled off an 8-0 run to take a 50-32 lead with 17:19 to play.
JCU would not get closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
Wilmington (11-4, 5-4 OAC), which snapped a modest two-game losing streak, was led by a game-high 18 points from Kortney Kin. Marianne McGoron added 16 as the Quakers shot 30-60 (.500) from the feld and 8-14 (.571) from thre-point range
John Carroll (9-6, 4-4 OAC) received 17 points from Sureck while Hamilton added 12. The Blue Streaks made only 27 percent of their shot attempts from the floor, hitting 13-38 (.342) in the first half and 7-36 (.194) in the second.
