Caroline McGraw's second goal of the season was arguably the biggest of her career in lifting JCU to a win at Baldwin-Wallace
John Carroll scored a goal with 32 seconds remaining in the second overtime period as Caroline McGraw headed in a Caitlyn Walton corner kick to stun host Baldwin-Wallace, 2-1, in an Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer match Tuesday night in Berea, Ohio.
Box Score
Baldwin-Wallace struck first in tonight's match, as Stephanie Geiger followed in her own shot and put a goal past
Molly Gradowski in the 38th minute.
It appeared that the Yellow Jackets would take a one-goal lead into halftime, but Walton would knot the game at 1-1 when she sailed in a free kick from 35 yards out with just under two minutes left to play in the opening period.
The two teams would combined for 12 shots in the second half, but neither could win the match in regulation.
Baldwin-Wallace had five of the first six shots and two of the first three corner kicks in the two overtime periods, but JCU had the last one of both, connecting on the game winner at the 1;09:28 mark. It was McGraw's second goal of the year.
The win improves John Carroll's record to 7-9-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the OAC, while Baldwin-Wallace falls to 6-11-2 overall and 2-6 in league play.
The victory also vastly improves John Carroll's chances at earning home field in the quarterfinal round of next week's OAC Tournament. JCU, which secured its berth in the six-team field with a win over Wilmington last Saturday night, is now in sole possession of fourth place. A win over Muskingum this Saturday coupled with a Capital loss to first place Otterbein would enable the Blue Streaks to grab the number three seed.
